Message From the Past President
As members of the Fayette County Bar Association, we should look back on 2017 as a year of service, growth, and outreach, both to members of the community and to one another. Thanks to your selfless contributions, we hosted a Court of Appeals panel at Whitewater High School; we donated another large bundle of toys to the Bloom House in Fayetteville for deserving children; and we held the first ever CLE seminar at the Fayette Justice Center. We were also able to adopt a Mission Statement and were edified by legislators and professionals at our monthly meetings.
Businessman Malcolm Forbes famously said, “You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.” As outgoing President, my sincere hope is that the Fayette County Bar Association has, at the very least, offered each of its members an opportunity to serve their fellow man or woman this year. I sincerely believe we are part of a noble profession, and that nobility shines brightest when we assist those who cannot assist themselves.
Finally, we are incredibly fortunate to have judges and other elected officials actively participate in our bar association, and I extend my most sincere appreciation to them for their continued contributions. Our bar would not be the same without their input and support. It has been an honor to serve with the members and officers of this organization not only this year but over the past four years. I look forward to a fantastic 2018 and many years to come.
Jordan M. Jewkes, President 2017
