Message From the President: Reflections on great lawyers
2013 was a most prestigious year for the Fayette County Bar Association. This occurred because our outstanding membership went beyond the call of duty to participate, excelling in providing community service in many projects. Our efforts were recognized by the State Bar of Georgia when it presented the Fayette County Bar Association the Newsletter Award as well as the Award of Merit for the entire State of Georgia. These awards were for promoting activities relating to improvement of the administration of Justice, the objectives of the State Bar, and the image of attorneys.
We also had the privilege of our services and activities being published in our local paper (averaging one article each month) making the citizens of Fayette County aware of the exceptional organization of legal professionals, who serve their community.
The best way to say Thank You to the fine members of this institution is to show the progress made this year:
(Committees in alphabetical order) Bar Rules & Discipline, Bicycles for Kids, CLE Seminar, Court Liaison, Domestic Workshop, Fayette Senior Services, Fayette Samaritans, Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, Newsletter, Membership, Mock Trial Competition, Programs & Speakers (including the best Judges in the State), Promise Place, Scholarships, State Bar Functions and Web site.
Space will not allow me to expound on all the Committees, the individuals who participated in multiple projects and services, but I would like to share just a few words about the “Bicycles for Kids” program. This project provided bicycles, a helmet and riding lessons for the less fortunate children in our community. The look of pure joy radiating on the faces of those children made all the difference. It was the highlight of my Presidency this year.
It was an honor to serve with you as your President. I would like to express my personal Thank You and sincere gratitude to the Officers and fine members of this institution. Thank you especially to the Judges for your input, education and service in working with us in coordinating these efforts. In short, you ladies and gentlemen are the best. I look forward to another great year in 2014 and many years to come.
May God Bless you!
David R. Moore, President 2013
